#Bloomerangs current members features: Stefan Lenthe in Bass, Chris Parker in Drums, Clay Wulbrecht in Piano and Rodrigo Cotelo in Guitar. #Bloomerangs also invites countless talented international musicians to its performances featuring different artists and formations that adjust to the location of the venues and the thematic genre of the events.

Chris Parker – Drums

Chris is one of the up and coming talents in Jazz. New York based, he was worn and raised in Indiana. Chris has been performing on countless venues and festivals throughout the United States starting at a very young age. He is an on demand international touring musician and clinician.CP action

Among others, Chris has performed with Chris Potter, Ralph Bowen, Jamey Aebersold, Roger Pemberton, Charlie Ballantine, Jim Snidero, Frank Glover, Dave Stryker, Rob Dixon, and Monika Herzig. He is an active member of the Jazz Education Network and has organized their student jam sessions dating to 2014.

His unique skill set as a Multi-instrumentalist (apart from Drums, Chris has professionally performed on Trombone & Euphonium for the Bloomington Symphony and other outfits), makes him stand out as a complete musical mind both as a performer and an educator. He has also performed featured in Sax, Trumpet, Bass and Guitar and is an Adjunct Teacher at the Music Department of the Olney Central College in Illinois.

Chris started collaborating with #Bloomerangs in early 2016 and is one of the featured musicians in “Horizon Sunset”, #Bloomerangs debut album. As a composer and band leader, Chris released his first studio solo album entitled “Moving Forward, Now” in 2017.

Clay Wulbrecht – Piano

Clay Wulbrecht has amassed and impressive acumen as a session Pianist and performer in his young career. His experience includes live appearances at Jazz festivals nationally and in Europe. Among others, he’s collaborated with the Brent Wallarab Big Band, Michael Spiro’s Latin Jazz Ensemble, and as guest artists for Kurt Rusenwinkel, Becca Stevens, and Randy Brecker. He is part of the musicians in Amanda Gardier‘s acclaimed debut album “Empathy”.

Born in Lafayette, Indiana, Clay began playing piano at age 5, taking interest in a variety of styles and genres. Classically trained at first, Jazz would later draw his attention after he started listening to musicians such as Bill Evans, Herbie Hancock, and Antonio Carlos Jobim whom to date, are a big influence in his playing.

Now Los Angeles, CA based, Clay holds a “Jazz Studies” degree from Indiana University’s Jacobs School of Music studying with Luke Gillespie and majoring in Jazz piano. Additionally, he received a scholarship from the Indiana Jazz Foundation in his sophomore year.

He joined #Bloomerangs as a member in 2016. In 2017, Clay’s songwriting collaboration with Rodrigo Cotelo for the original “In Some Shape or Form”, earned them a distinction of Semi Finalists in the Jazz category of the International Songwriting Competition. Among others, jurors included Vijay Iyer, Danilo Perez, and Esperanza Spalding.

In 2018 Clay was selected as a Disney All American musician, and chosen to perform with the Disney All American band the entire summer in Anaheim, CA.

Stefan Lenthe – Bass

Stefan Lenthe commenced his collaborations with #Bloomerangs in the summer of 2017 for what would be the beginning of his participation as a core member of the outfit. Stefan is as avid as he is versatile on the double and electric bass. His playing crosses stylistic and national boundaries, grounded in Jazz but frequently extending into the realms of Rock, Funk, R&B, Classical, Cuban, and Brazilian.

Nurtured in the jazz community of Indiana, in high school  he traveled across the country playing with the Jazz program at Bloomington High School North. It was here that he was first exposed to many great performances and clinicians. In his final year of High School, Stefan, as a member of Trio Collective, won the 2014 Downbeat award for best high school jazz combo. Stefan Photo

Stefan continued his studies in his home town by earning a Bachelor of Music from the Jazz Studies program at the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, where he studied bass with Jeremy Allen, and Todd Coolman, and played in groups directed by Tierney Sutton, Dave Stryker, John Raymond, Wayne Wallace, and Michael Spiro.

As an arranger, Stefan served as the musical director for the monthly Jazz Vespers service at First Christian Church in Bloomington in the second half of 2018. As a side man Stefan has performed with Rob Dixon and Brad Goode, and has been signed to talent agencies Double D Booking (Chicago) and Blonde Entertainment (Indianapolis.)

Now based out of New Orleans, LA  Stefan is working hard as ever and is on track to become one of the busiest bass players in the crescent city.

Rodrigo Cotelo – Guitar

A 4 time Semi Finalist of the International Songwriting Competition (3 times in Jazz, and 1 in Blues), Rodrigo holds an extensive pedigree as a composer, producer, and musician. Not necessarily a virtuoso but with a refined taste and tone, he embraces musicality with unparalleled ease and sensitivity. A true natural.

Rodrigo was born in Montevideo, Uruguay and he was always in contact with music during his childhood as he was born son of a drummer and a dance teacher. He started studying music (Piano) at age 7 earning his first steps at Schubert Conservatory, until his love for Guitar was discovered at age 15.Rod Action

Among others, he has studied with Ricardo Lacuan (Vinicius de Moraes), Ryan Taylor and Fernando Calleriza. He has participated of several master classes (not only in Guitar) from prestigious international musicians such as Luis Salinas, Nguyen Ye, Sylvain Luc, Jean-Michel Pilc, Yvan Robilliard and collaborated as a translator and interpreter (with occasional participations) on several clinics conducted by musicians’ participant of Jazz Tour in Montevideo and the Lapataia International Jazz Festival in Punta del Este.

Internationally, he has performed and recorded on different stages and venues in a variety of different genres with: Joseph Filipow, Davide Garofalo, Dario Skenazi, Oscar Stagnaro, Ramiro Flores, Manuel Rocheman, Dj Fabian Repetto in New York, Punta del Este, Paris, Barcelona, Dallas, Lafayette and San Diego.

Awarded a scholarship for “Performance Artistic Development” by Uruguayan Society of Interpreters (SUDEI), he finished his composition and counterpoint studies with Esteban Klísich. Now based in Indiana, Rodrigo has been working full time on music production for independent artists in multiple genres while composing and arranging originals for #Bloomerangs and on demand.
